NBA Betting Preview: Spurs vs. Thunder, March 31, 2017

A battle of two of the top NBA teams in the West takes plays as the San Antonio Spurs head to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder, Friday, March 31, 2017.  The Spurs are -2 road favorite, the total is 208.5. The question is: Does San Antonio want to play, or rest guys down the stretch? They lost a showdown with Golden State the last game, so the #2 seed in the West is likely.  A preview of an NBA Western Conference playoff battle?

San Antonio Spurs (57-17; 20-15 away). They are 3.5 games behind the Warriors after losing the last game at home, 110-98 to Golden State, blowing leads of 15-0 and 33-17.  Over the final three periods the Spurs shot just 40 percent from the field and were outscored 93-65.  They are on a  5-11 ATS run, as well as a 5-1 SU, 3-3 ATS run.    

For totals players, the Over is 17-7 in the Spurs last 24 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Spurs are also 16-7 ATS after allowing 100+ points in their previous game, plus 3-9 ATS against the Western Conference.

#6 seed Oklahoma City Thunder (43-31, 27-10 home):   OKC is home from three-game trip, winning 2 of the 3 contests. They are on an 8-2 SU, 7-3 ATS run, off a 114-106 OT win at Orlando. Star Russell Westbrook posted his second 50-point triple-double as he racked up 57 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists! His 38th triple-double leaves him 3 behind the record of Oscar Robertson (1961-62) . The Thunder are 38-15-3 ATS in their last 56 home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of greater than .600.

Oklahoma City is sixth in the West and hoping to overtake the fifth-place Los Angeles Clippers, a team they trail by one game.  The Thunder has won their last four home games against the Spurs. OKC is 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 home games.

 

Head to head matchup: The home team is 4-1 ATS, the under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings, as well as 10-4 under the total when they clash at Oklahoma City. The favorite is 23-10-1 ATS, and the Spurs are 3-14 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Oklahoma City.
